The ZME_SERIAL card is a small daughter board that connects a serial interface to Z-Wave wireless networks. The interface for the guest is made by a 5x1 jumper connector that can be used in normal position and vice versa. The pinout is (3.3V, TXD, RXD GND, NC). The connection to the antenna is made using a reverse connection flexible cable connector. The module itself contains a 300 Z-Wave chip preloaded with a Z-Wave.Me Z-Wave firmware and a 32K EEPROM. There is an additional 2x5 pin programming connector that supports the Sigma Designs 2x5 connection.
The firmware implements a superset of the serial Sigma Designs interface that includes some specific Z-Wave.Me functions such as backup and restore or vendor ID change.
